James Pickren is a former corporate executive, current investor, and entrepreneur. Most recently he was the Chief Operating Officer for Just Energy Group, Inc. As such, Mr. Pickren had full responsibility for JE’s global gas, power, and renewables businesses with principle locations in Houston, Toronto, and London. He joined the company in Feb of 2017 as the Chief Strategy Officer and a Senior Vice President with responsibilities for corporate strategy. Prior to this, Mr. Pickren was a principle and served as the Chief Executive Officer at Sherex Fastening Solutions, a manufacturer of specialty fastener hardware, since September of 2012. Previously, Mr. Pickren was the President and Chief Executive Officer at Ryan Herco Flow Solutions, an upper middle market portfolio company of private equity firm.
Prior to that, he served in multiple commercial and P&L positions within The Weir Group, a Scottish specialty engineering firm and IMI, PLC, an English engineering company. At Weir, Mr. Pickren served as the Divisional Sales Director for the flow control business focused on power generation markets. At IMI, he was most recently the President of IMI Nuclear from August 2007 to September 2011 wherein Mr. Pickren oversaw the global nuclear business, serving the fuel cycle, civil electricity generation, and nuclear marine markets.
Mr. Pickren has a mechanical engineering degree from Clemson University and an MBA from Duke University.
James Lives in Richmond, VA. with his wife and two children. He is involved in his community as a homeowner’s association President and as an adjunct member of the Richmond Coalition of Civic Association Presidents. He is a public-school advocate, is heavily involved with Richmond public schools, as well as the Treasurer for his children’s elementary school PTA. Additionally, James enjoys many sports and is a frequent golfer. He particularly enjoys cheering on his Clemson Tigers.
